“Throughout my career, I’ve seen two common leadership myths:
That ‘strong results’ alone make someone ready to lead and that being a ‘people person’ is enough.

Too often, individuals were promoted because they were sociable, vocal, or well-liked. Others, because they consistently delivered results. Yet neither guaranteed effective leadership. Some lacked the empathy to truly lead people. Others lacked the expertise or accountability to deliver outcomes.

What I learned – again and again, across sectors and continents – is this:
Leadership is not about choosing between people and performance. It’s about the integration of both.

That’s why my vision on leadership is rooted in five core values:

  • Integrity, because leadership starts with self-awareness and honesty – especially when it’s difficult.
  • Human-centered connection, because people don’t follow titles; they follow trust.
  • Evidence-based practice, because decisions should be informed by what actually works.
  • A global mindset, because leadership happens in a world where cultures, identities, and systems are in constant exchange.
  • Real results, because great leadership is measured not just by intentions, but by meaningful impact.

This vision took shape early on – from Brussels to Freetown – where I worked with leaders under pressure, navigating real-life complexity. It became clear to me that sustainable leadership isn’t loud or flashy.
